Klamath Falls Communities Extend Compassion and Kindness to Neighbors

In the resulting aftershock caused by murder, residents of Klamath View Retirement Center are welcomed in by those who care and understand.
Klamath Falls, Oregon - "There was absolutely no hesitation that the residents of Klamath View Retirement needed to come immediately to our communities," Bonnie Holloway of Crystal Terrace Residential Care said Tuesday afternoon. Both Crystal Terrace and Eldorado Heights Assisted Living Communities opened their doors to residents of Klamath View Retirement Center who were reeling from the death of the director of eleven years, 51 year old Debra Chapman.
Retirement and assisted living communities are often perceived as dwellings which are completely free of any of society's dangers. While steps are regularly taken to minimize incidents, these housing arrangements can be similar to apartment life at any complex. Although many amenities are added into senior housing options, residents rent apartments and pay for services and, unless specifically stated in contractual agreement, generally have the same freedoms guaranteed all citizens of the United States. Most day to day conflicts which occur are resolved. Sadly, that was not the case in this incident.
"We are all having difficulty coping with this incident. I'm glad we can offer meals and comfort to our neighbors. We will continue to do it for as long as the residents of Klamath View wish," said Holloway. Most Klamath View residents stayed at a local motel for the night, and were transported to one or the other of the two Communities for their meals. "They have our full commitment to do whatever we can to help," she added.
