Letter from the office of mayor vera katz
City of Portland, Oregon
August 3, 2004
Dear Friends, and Supporters of the Sellwood Landing Assisted Living Community:
As Mayor of the City of Portland, it is my privilege to extend my support of the Sellwood Landing Assisted Living Community, whose groundbreaking ceremony will be held at the sight fo the new facility on August 6, 2004. It is also a pleasure to welcome Sunwest Management to the City of Portland and the Sellwood Neighborhood.
Sellwood is Portland's oldest incorporated neighborhood with a tradition of commitment to family. This joyous occasion affirms that Sellwood Landing will honor the same commitment to family of all ages. The promis of intergenerational programs will bring together the wisdom of age and the energy of youth. Community groups and clubs will be encouraged to utilize the large common areas for meetings and events. And most importantly, they will welcome families.
The unique design of the building will enhance the area. I appreciate, as I know the neighborhood appreciates the special care that has been taken to architecturally blend with the ambience and uniqueness of Sellwood.
I applaud the contributions of Sunwest Management, in its effort to serve older adults in over 110 locations across the United States. The service you provide is greatly appreciated by the City of Portland.
Congratulations on the groundbreaking of your new facility! I wish you the best of luck in the future. We all look forward to the opening in the summer of 2005.
With warm regards,
Vera Katz
Mayor
